Her older sister is Karisma Kapoor, an actress. She is the granddaughter of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, great-granddaughter of actor Prithviraj Kapoor, and niece of actor Rishi Kapoor. According to Kapoor, the name "Kareena" was derived from the book Anna Karenina, which her mother read while she was pregnant with her. Her family tree reads like the who’s who of Bollywood.
Kareena faced the media spotlight from a very young age, but did not make her acting debut until the 2000 film Refugee. Her melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, became India's highest-grossing film in the overseas market in 2001, and is one of her biggest commercial successes to date. Her portrayal of a sex worker in Chameli (2004) proved to be the turning point in her career and she was later noted for her performances in the critically acclaimed Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006). Asin Denies the rumours!
Ready may be months away from release but is definitely one of the most awaited movies of 2011. After all it brings a hit combination of Salman Khan and Anees Bazmi together years after No Entry. Also, it would be the third Bollywood outing for Asin who waited to sign a new movie after Ghajini and London Dreams.
However, the lady in question found herself in the news for all the wrong reasons with a piece of rumour floating around the world of web. As per that, she shares a steamy scene with Salman Khan in the movie and has finally let go off her imagination. The fact though is that this is far away from being true.
Says a highly placed source associated with Ready, “No, Asin has not shot for any such scene in Ready. The movie does not need that. This is someone’s imagination really running wild. Asin knew that such a news piece was floating around for last few days but she decided to stay low”.
Why not raise an early alarm?
Continues the source, “You can’t stop people from speculating. Some people write things that do not carry any semblance of truth. Asin has been in the industry for long and understands that such news pieces do float around. She decided to let it go so that it could die a silent death in due course of time. However, when certain reputed publications and glossles also fell for the so-called piece of information, she thought it was best to clarify”.
One would have expected Asin to be all fired up when confronted with the query to unveil the truth. However, surprisingly one heard a giggle from her and though it did not convey a ‘care-a-damn’ gesture, Asin was stern and sure in her denial.
Asin comes clean here, “I am rather amused to hear this because I have not shot any steamy scene with Salman in Ready”.
With the lady at the hot seat going on the records about her act in the film, there is of course no room for any more speculation or rumour.
Asin smiles, “To think of it, the speculation by itself stands on a filmsy ground. Ready is a family entertainer. Now tell me, where would such a scene feature in it in any case? It’s really weird that someone actually thought of bringing out such news for a movie like this where there is no scope for such a sequence in any case”.
Now that should set the records straight.
She is sexy, but not seductive says Bollywood
‘Sheila Ki Jawaani…’ is the song from ‘Tees Maar Khan’ where Katrina Kaif has done all that chest heaving and prancing in sexy half saris. Choreographer cum director Farah Khan gives the boldest of Katrina’s avatar, glad that Bollywood Fans are still calling her item number sexy and not raunchy.
‘Dancing in half sari with golden outfit is more Indianised more kitsch and filmy. There is nothing showing with bed sheet costume and that is the beauty of it. Comments have also started pouring in online and I am happy that people are saying I am sexy but not really seductive and raunchy. To be honest, I was the happiest at that comment because I can never go out and have that brazen kind of sex appeal,’ said “Katrina Kaif”.

I do not want to be Kareena’s copy cat
The blockbuster Bollywood film 3 Idiots is going for a remake in Tamil as well as Telugu and a lot of speculation is doing the rounds on this issue.
The latest buzz concerns the leading lady, who will portray the character enacted by Kareena Kapoor in the Hindi version of the film. The ‘Pokiri’ girl Ileana has been roped in to step into Bebo’s shoes in both the versions of the film.
All the viewers, who have watched Kareena’s performance in the movie, will obviously have a high expectation from Ileana too, as Kareena has done justice to her character in the film. So, Ileana has a huge responsibility on her shoulders to carry off the character well.
The 23-year-old actress, who has become a popular name in Tollywood, is very excited to be paired with her ‘Pokiri’ hero Mahesh Babu again. She said that earlier she was reserved as a newcomer but now she can connect well with him. She is also very happy to get an opportunity to work with filmmaker Shankar and considers it as a dream coming true for her.
Ileana says that she will face the challenge by giving her own style to the character. She does not want to be termed as a copy cat of Kareena. However, Ileana has claimed to watch the Hindi version of 3 Idiots twice.
Well, every actress says the same thing when they are taken for a remake movie but if Ileana can really put forth her own style then audience would love to watch her because she is youthful and pretty and has given some really good performances in her earlier films.

respect him a lot. I am a big fan of him,” Ranbir told reporters on the margins of the HT Leadership Summit here Friday.

“If a generation follows me, they follow my movies and they want to emulate me…it feels good. But I really don’t take that seriously. I do not feel responsible for others (youth). John to turn director soon…
Having worked in more than 30 films in seven years, John Abraham says audiences have become more accepting of his understated, realistic style of acting. He also wants to wield the megaphone soon and is sure of doing a good job as a director.
“I have good friends around me who are directors and related stories writers. They are all willing to sit with me, help me and formulate screenplays. I have ideas and I want to become a director very soon and when I become one, I will be damn good at it,” John told in an interview.
“Probably, five-eight years down the line, I’ll direct a film. I’m just seven years old in the industry. I want to first just settle down properly and singularly prove myself in a big way and then I will get into direction,” added the actor who will turn 38 next month.
John has worked in all genres – from Oscar nominated period drama Water to comedies Garam Masala and Dostana to issue-based New York.
Explaining his evolution as an actor, he said: “After all these years, I think I’ve become very comfortable with the medium, but more than myself I’ve seen a change in the perception of the audience towards me.
“I’ve always been an understated actor. I’m not into over-projection. When I joined the industry, there was a section of the audience that felt I was too understated. Today the same audiences have a different perception and somehow that same style of acting is working for them now.
“I really haven’t changed. I’m following my director’s brief and I’m doing exactly that. But people’s perception has changed. The sense of reality has prevailed in the mind of the audience and I think that’s the change I have seen.”
His nerdy look in Jhootha Hi Sahi failed to set the cash registers ringing, but the Bollywood hunk has not given up. He is all set to play boy-next-door in a new film.
“I’ll be starting the film in March, which will be directed by Kapil Sharma, a first time director. He is the best chief assistant director we have in the country,” said John.
“The film is about just a regular guy who gets busted by all the women in his life. It’s about a guy who learns life through the women he is with – his mother, sister, his boss, his neighbour, his girlfriend, his ex-girlfriend. It’s just about this journey. It’s amazing.”
The final title of the film is yet to be decided. “Right now it’s called The Re-education of Ishaan Sabharwal. That’s a working title,” he said.
Currently, he is busy with director Nishikant Kamat and producer Vipul Shah’s Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster Kaakha Kaakha. The action movie also stars Genelia D’Souza.
“I have already shot 20 per cent of the film. We shot for 25 days, we have another 40-45 days left and we are done. So we finish in January end,” said John.
Is there any movie on the anvil with his actress girlfriend Bipasha Basu? Both debuted together with Jism in 2003 and were also seen as a couple in Aetbaar and Madhoshi.
The couple was last seen together in 2007 film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.
“I don’t know, depends on whether we are offered a good script. Till then we are okay not doing work together. Anyway there is no public display of affection in our case. We are pretty much in our own worlds,” said the actor.
