Abhishek Bachchan on the first time he met Aishwarya- " The first time i met Aishwarya was in August 1997. I was on a recce for my father's film Mrityudata, in Switzerland and she was shooting her first film, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, with my dear friend Bobby Deol. I remember one evening Bobby invited me over to his hotel for dinner and Aishwarya and the rest of the unit were there. That was the first time i actually met her, although i had obviously seen her before, since she has Miss World and all that. I don't remember the moment when i knew she was the one, actually which is weird, but it always just felt right. If you ask her, she will tell you the same thing- that the minute we came together, we both knew that this was something for keeps. So, there wasn't just this 'one' defining moment, it always felt perfect!"

Katrina Kaif doing comedy with Abhishek!

In Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Katrina Kaif showed her potential at doing comedy. Now, director Rajkumar Santoshi has roped her in for another laughathon.

This time, Katrina will be paired with Abhishek Bachchan. The duo first worked together in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar years ago and never after that. Katrina says she was hoping to do an all-out romantic film with Abhi after Sarkar.

But Sanoshi penned the script for an all-out comedy. The director says he had Abhishek in mind while penning the script because, according to him, the actor has a “great comic potential” that still remains to be tapped. This would also be Santoshi’s first film with Abhishek.

So excited is Santoshi about this untitled comedy with Abhi that he’s put his other project Power, with Amitabh Bachchan, on the backburner.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant?

Rumors related to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have again started making the rounds. The rumors, this time, are related to her pregnancy not in India but in Dubai.

Ash was recently set to fly to Dubai to do some important interviews but her visit was canceled on account of ill health, which sparked the rumor that Aishwarya is lastly in the family way.

“Unless it is a case of dodgy Indian curries that is slowly but surely emanating, the rumor mills are grinding to grist the possibility of a classic Aishwarya diva tantrum because she is pregnant,” a local newspaper in Dubai is reported to have printed.

Sources had informed the newspaper that Aishwarya was not well and hence had cancelled the said interviews. This is not the first time that the buzz about her pregnancy has reached us.

Aishwarya and Abhishek should have had a few babies by now, had we believed in all these gossips.

There were hundreds of stories floating on how cinematographer-cum-filmmaker Rajeev Menon, who made Kandukondein Kandukondein with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tabu, and Sapne with Kajol, was supposedly doing an Abhimaan kind of a flick with Ash and hubby Abhishek.

It is now being rumoured that though Rajeev was in queue before filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who used the Ash-Abhi combo for Raavan, the superstar couple gave Mani preference over Rajeev.

 

But now it’s said that after the debacle of Raavan, the Rajeev film may not take off because the trade would much rather see Aishwarya romance other heroes, and Abhishek serenade Katrina or Kareena.

Big B upset over 'Raavan'?

In a surprising turn of events, just 2 days after the release of Abhishek & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'Raavan', Amitabh Bachchan has criticised the editing of the film on a popular website. Amitabh's statements on the site come in response to heavy criticism for 'Raavan' from critics aross the country. In his statements the Big B says Raavan is 'Sadly' edited and the reason Abhishek's character Beera often appears confused is due to important portions of the film being chopped off on the editing table.

RAAVAN grosses 20 crores worldwide on opening day

Reliance BIG Pictures and Madras Talkies' RAAVAN seems to have got an excellent opening at the box office. It has grossed Rs 20 crores worldwide on the opening day from its three versions- Hindi (RAAVAN), Tamil (RAAVANAN) and Telugu (VILLAIN). abhishek bachchan raavan-01

 

RAAVAN is India's first film to have released worldwide in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language simultaneously.

 

The film has opened in 2200 screens worldwide on 18th June in all its three versions.

 

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film is a modern-day version and a loose adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana, in which Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, was abducted by the demon (Rakshasa) king of Lanka, Ravana. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman.

Abhishek kisses Aish in public

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan very often gets intimate in reel but in real they hardly shows affection for one other although media keeps their tongue wagging as when they would capture Ash and Abhi in their romantic mood. Fortunately, media caught the sizzling couple in their upbeat mood during the promotion of ‘Raavan’ when Abhi kissed Ash on her cheeks.

Aishwarya, Abhishek may not attend IIFA

Papa Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) but his son and daughter-in-law, who have been regular faces at IIFA since it began ten years ago, might skip the event this year because of their professional commitments.

Yes, there’s a strong chance that Ash would give the upcoming IIFA weekend from June 3 to 5 in Sri Lankan capital Colombo a miss because she’s flying to Paris to promote a brand she endorses.

 

“She is going for a Longines (international watch brand) commitment to Paris where she will be attending the French open,” her spokesperson is quoted to have said.

 

In the last few weeks Ash has been trotting the globe, with her visits to cities like Cannes and London. Now, she’s off to Paris.

 

Not just Ash, even Abhishek will be busy shooting director Abhinay Deo’s action thriller film Game in Istanbul.

Raavan hit the theatres on June 18!

The wait seems to be over now; we are talking about the big budget Tamil-Hindi bilingual Raavan, which the veteran director is currently busy with, and which is expected to grace theatres on June 18, 2010.

The Hindi version is likely to be premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France on May 14. Mani Ratnam will be at the screening accompanied by the lead cast of the film, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram.

 

Raavan, said to be the modern adaptation of the epic Ramayana, revolves around Raavana, the ruler of Lanka, who kidnapped Sita. The story culminates with Sita supporting Raavana instead of Rama, who suspects her chastity after having spent so much time in Raavana’s custody. Vikram plays the villain. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead pair in Hindi, while Vikram will play the lead opposite Aishwarya in Tamil. Music is by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Raavana is produced by Mani Ratnam's sister Sharda under Ratnam's banner Madras Talkies.

Abhishek Bachchan dances with the girls!

It was the historic city of Udaipur that Abhishek Bachchan visited this week for National Bingo Night. Not only did he enter the stage to the popular Delhi 6 song Genda Phool, he also made a point to greet the studio audience and his viewers with a very chaste Rajasthani greeting, ‘Kesariya Baalam, padharo mharo des!’

The first contestant on this week’s show is a tourist driver Rakesh Sharma, who’ll be playing for the grand prize of a Maruti SX4. Abhishek decides to add a little more excitement to his game by giving Rakesh three bonus balls worth a lakh each. Well, it was a little surprising when Rakesh actually went on to win two of those three lucky balls!

 

The next contestant manages to surprise Abhishek with a unique present. Jitendra Verma decided to surprise him by bringing some of his female friends on the stage, who were dressed in traditional Rajasthani outfits and performed a little folk dance number for AB Jr and the audience! Abhishek joins in the pretty girls trying to pick up a step or two.

Abhishek did seva at Golden Temple

Abhishek Bachchan, one of the most sought after stars in Bollywood, washed dishes at the Golden Temple in Amritsar as part of his kar seva.

The actor was in Amritsar with his sister Shweta Nanda. They visited three prominent gurdwaras.

“Abhishek did some kar seva by cleaning up the premise, and washing the dishes at the �langar’ (in the Golden Temple). There were two other prominent gurdwaras that they visited,” Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com Thursday.

 

The 67-year-old, whose mother Teji Bachhcan belonged to a Sikh family, is happy to see the religious side of his children.

 

“It is always such a joy to see children putting their minds to faith and devotion. Nothing would give me greater joy and nothing I believe could be better than their achievement in belief and prayer,” he added.

 

Abhishek, who visited Amritsar for the shooting of his reality show “Bingo”, also posted a message on his Twitter page saying: “Went to the Golden Temple at 3 in the morning. Did seva for about an hour, then just sat there listening to the kirtan.”

Aishwarya Rai’s pregnant pause!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been trying to become a mother for some time now. The fact that she has so far not gotten pregnant is actually a cause for concern for the entire Bachchan parivar.

According to a close family friend, though outwardly the family may have taken the when-it-happens-it-will-happen stand, but within, there’s a very ardent desire to have an heir for the family as soon as possible.


Mr Bachchan is especially sold on a grandson, but when asked about it he says, as usual, “When it happens, it will happen.”


But the question that is really bothers the family and their close friends is - when? After all, it’s no secret that Aishwarya is 37, and she isn’t getting any younger.


But it now comes to light that the reason for her inability to bear a child at the moment is because she has been suffering from stomach tuberculosis for a while. Says a source, “The medication Aishwarya is taking for her stomach ailment is hampering her from getting pregnant. Until the tuberculosis is fully cured, she is unlikely to risk a pregnancy.”


On his blog, an anguished Amitabh Bachchan has written about ‘the rich man’s TB’, dispelling the myth that the disease only afflicts the less privileged. Now that the supposed reason for the delay in her pregnancy is clearer, we can only hope and pray that the Bachchan bahu speedily recovers from the ailment and fulfills her ardent desire to become a mother.

Vivek avoids Abhishek!

Although Vivek Oberoi was successful in making amends with Amitabh Bachchan last week, he still hasn’t made much headway with Abhishek Bachchan. This was evident on Wednesday, at the music launch of Apoorva Lakhia’s Hide and Seek where he was invited as a special guest, as was Abhishek. While everyone waited with bated breath, expecting sparks to fly when Vivek and Abhishek crossed paths, little did they know that Vivek was timing his entry to the event after Abhishek had left.

A source says, “Abhishek entered the party at 7.30pm and left soon after. All this while, Vivek kept calling the production people to find out if Abhishek was there. While he was being requested to arrive quickly, Vivek kept dilly dallying till he got confirmation that Abhishek had left. Vivek arrived at the venue minutes later.”

Abhishek will make a great father: Aishwarya RaiAishwarya Rai says she is fully convinced that actor-husband Abhishek Bachchan will make a good father in real life because he is so "real and rooted".

"Everybody has been asking me if Abhishek will be a good pa (father) in connection with the release of our forthcoming production 'Paa'. I think it's silly for me to be even making the statement. It's given - I married the man. So obviously I have the conviction in the husband he is or the father he will be," Aishwarya, 36, told in an interview here.

Asked about Abhishek's qualities that would make him a good father, Aishwarya laughed and said: "He is very real, very rooted and very human - which I absolutely relate to. His values are evident for everybody to see. We have known each other for so many years.

"I've seen him with his niece and nephew since the time they were babies. He is so great with kids and I've seen that for the longest time with (his sister Shweta's children) Navya (Naveli) and Agastya. I have no doubts on him whatsoever."

Aishwarya, who will be seen with Abhishek in "Ravana", was in the capital Monday to launch the Longines PrimaLuna, a new watch range inspired by the moon and galaxy.

Sporting a sleek piece herself that matched with an elaborate yet elegant black and cream off-shoulder gown, Aishwarya was at peace talking about her personal life.

Asked whether she would want a daughter or a son, she said: "Come on...Aren't you like moving at a really fast pace...! Whatever god has in store for us in life (will come)... Life itself is a blessing, let alone to have opportunity to be able to bring a life into this world.

"It's really not in our hands ...it's in god's hands. I hope I am just blessed with that experience, I am really looking forward to it and we will certainly cherish it," she added.

Her mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan is a member of the Samajwadi Party, but Aishwarya is doubtful if she will ever head in that direction.

"Life has been so full - haven't even thought about it (entering politics). My life is evidently extremely full in terms of the amount of responsibilities and experiences I am currently having.

"And I believe, anything you take, you have to be able to commit to and give a lot of yourself to. And I think at this point, life is full and that's what I am giving (my best) to," she said.

On the work front, the former beauty queen is busy with big ticket projects such as Mani Ratnam's "Ravana", Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Guzaarish", Rajnikant starrer "Endhiran" and Vipul Shah's "Action Replay".

The actress is likely to feature as Mumtaz Mahal with acclaimed Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley in "Taj", which is based on Taj Mahal.

"After 'The Last Legion', Sir Ben and I were keen to work together in another project. He has now come with the final draft and he has just sent it over to me. Once we agree on everything, we will take the project forward. He will start scouting for the locations soon," she said.

For now, Aishwarya is looking forward to AB Corp's "Paa", which features her father-in-law, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, and Abhishek. The film releases Friday.

No baby for Aish and Abhi for next nine months

Rumours on Bachchan bahu Aishwarya Rai becoming a mommy very soon are doing the rounds of tinsel town. Some insiders also claim that Ash dearie is soon wrapping up all her assignments and is hitting home to start planning a family with hubby Abhishek.

But looks like hubby dear, begs to differ, as he clears the air and puts an end to all the speculation by stating loud and clear that he is not going to be a ‘Paa’! Well at least, not in the coming nine months. Abhishek Bachchan said, “Playing father to my dad really taught me a lot about fatherhood, but let me assure you that for the next nine months I am definitely not becoming a father”.

 

Hmm…looks like the power couple of Bollywood is just too busy promoting their home production ‘Paa’.

Abhishek,Aishwarya bags 25crore soap endorsement

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are doing some first timer things this year, first they gave an exclusive interview to Oprah together for the first time and now they have signed a soap endorsement deal together and will be seen together in an advertisement for the first time.

Apparently the supposedly most famous couple on the planet (wonder which one!) are being paid a whooping Rs.25 crore for starring the advertisement.

A source says, “The endorsement market is booming right now. Also, it will be the first time that Abhishek and the Bachchan bahu will be seen together in a commercial. The couple had been in talks for a long time with the ad filmmakers, who were extremely keen to get the two together. They finally agreed to be part of the ad last week.”

The advertisement will be shot abroad.

Aishwarya depressed and breaks into tears

The Bachchan Bahu is upset these days and the reason being her two ex flames, Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi. Both being very unruly to her resurfacing their past relationship in public and in a way disrespecting her. Ash has dumped her past and happily moved on in life. But both Salman and Vivek started digging the past when she was happily married to Abhishek Bachchan and leading a blissful life. She was so depressed with the comments made by Vivek on Farah Khan’s chat show and Salman Khan in an interview that she broke into tears on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzaarish’.

Reportedly she just kept on saying - “I’m living my life the way I want. I wish others would do the same. Just let me be.” Vivek on Farah Khan’s show spoke at length as how Ash has spoiled his life and ruined his career. He added that he made the press conference about Salman Khan threatening him for the sake of Ash but instead of feeling grateful, he called his act as immature. He blamed Ash for the fall of his career.

Same is the case with Salman Khan, in an interview, he commented whether he has ever physically abused Ash at the time when he was dating her.

While Ash’s well wishers commented, “We feel what Mr Khan and Mr Oberoi are doing is very ungentlemanly. It’s unchivalrous to talk about any lady who has moved on to a new phase in her life. It is especially wrong when the lady is very happily married. Her life revolves around her two families now. What happened in the past is done and over with. Do these two men realise how much her career suffered? She lost so many films because of her past associations”.

Ash maintained silence on the comments made by the two but her tears spoke about her pain.
