Mallika Sherawat, the un-suitable woman?

Mallika Sherawat has time and again flaunted her assets. So, understandably one time she wanted to be totally covered up, she faced a huge hurdle. If designer Pria Kataria Puri is to be believed, the actor made a request out of the blue to her to create a demure, smart brown suit for her, giving the strangest of reasons. Pria says, “On August 7, I had participated in a charity event organised by Jagriti wherein I had put together a fashion show. We had quite a few celebrities in attendance and Lisa Ray wore an outfit of mine for this charity event.” Mallika Sherawat too, was supposed to wear one of her outfits for the event.

Mallika asked meto email her my designs in orange and off-white. But a couple of days later she asked me to design her a brown western suit!” Pria says.”She sent me a picture of herself with a a woman lawyer –saying that she wants to wear the kind of suit the lady was wearing, as she would be playing a lawyer in one of her forthcoming films and she wanted to prepare for the role” Pria says in disbelief. Pria refused to meet Mallika’s demands as the outfit “Didn’t fit in my line of work”. This seemed to have irked Mallika. Not surprisingly then, the actor made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance at the said event. “She came in, spoke for a few minutes and made a dash for the exit,”says Pria.

However, Mallika’s spokesperson has a different story to tell, “Mallika was to speak on behalf of the charity devoted to victims of domestic abuse. She thought it most appropriate to wear an outfit that fit the occasion and did not detract from the message. When it was understood that designer Pria did not and could not make anything for Mallika that complemented the serious issue, Mallika purchased a professional suit from Christian Dior. In any case, Mallika will continue to devote her time and efforts for good causes like Jagriti and she thinks Pria is a talented designer whose clothes she looks forward to wearing in the future.”

Good thing that Mallika kept her commitment, in spite of the differences!

Mallika Sherawat managed an invite to the high profile LA premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, but she had an unusual way of showing gratitude for it. Like all red carpets, this too was an event where what a celeb is wearing is of utmost signifcance, and therefore it is unfortunate that Mallika decided to appear in a strange creation of sheer, and velvet and show a lot of skin.The fashion circle is abuzz with comment on this faux pas. Designer Gaurav Gupta said, “You can’t expect anything spophisticated out of Mallika. I thought the velvet shorts were tasteless…as was the gown.

On the other hand, as always, there are some words of support for Mallika’s boldness. Designer Nikhil Mehra said, “I salute the fact that she manages to always grab more attention even if it by her style choices. It seems the outrage has reached Mallika already and she is regretting her couture choice. Her latest post on Twitter reads, “Big day 2morro! LA City Hall. History will b made:) You’ll b happy 2 know I’m wearing a suit! Dolce n Gabbana, of course.

As chirpy as this tweet sounds, it belies her regret over the decision she announced a few days ago, when she wrote, “Ques of the day: What shud I wear 2 the Tarantino premiere 2nite? Wud sssomething ssscandalous B appropriate?”

Bollywood is also catching the trend of insuring body parts. The hot property of Bollywood, Mallika Sherawat is the first Bollywood celebrity to insure her body. She has divulged that she she’d like her producers to insure her body. Mallika Sherawat has revealed her wish on a networking site.It was one of her Hollywood fans that gave her the idea of insurance.

Mallika Sherawat will become an honorary citizen of LA

The Los Angeles City Council has decided to make Mallika Sherawat an honorary citizen. This will be the first time the city of Los Angeles will officially confer an honour on any B-Town celebrity. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other members of the LACity Council will do the needful on the eve of India’s Independence Day. On the occasion, the city will recognise Ms Sherawat as an honorary citizen and present a resolution for her extraordinary career and charitable efforts. Says a source close to Mallika, “It will be a celebrity -studded event where many special guests are expected to attend.

Some of these will include her Hollywood friends like world-famous composer Yanni, film director Jay Chandrashekar, CAA super agent Emanuel Nunez, film director Jesse Dylan (son of musician Bob Dylan), Hisss director Jennifer Lynch and producer Govind Menon among others. Mallika has personally invited all of them to the event.The event will be open to the public and Mallika will also sign autographs for fans before and after the event. The source adds, “Mallika has been residing in Los Angeles at a penthouse apartment in one of the most expensive areas of the city.In a string of firsts, Mallika is also the first star from Asia to be invited to the Twitter headquarters and the first B-Town star to have a Hollywood milkshake named after her.

Trust Mallika Sherawat to take us by surprise every time! She is the first Indian star to be invited to visit Twitter headquarters in San Francisco, California.The sexy siren has a popular Bollywood presence on Twitter via her page ‘@MallikaLA’. She is also apparently one of the most ‘followed’ Bollywood celebrities on Twitter with more than 2500 fans keen on knowing what the sexy actress is up to.Mallika will be visiting the Twitter headquarters on July 14 where she’ll greet her fans, tour the Twitter office and give inspirational remarks to Twitter employees during their lunch break. Mallika has been using Twitter to keep in touch with fans and document her experiences in Hollywood.

Sherawat, who since arriving in Hollywood has garnered awards, celebrity friends and even a Hollywood milkshake named after her, decided to join the Twittering class as a way to keep in touch with fans back home in India. “One of the hard things about spending time in the U.S. was being so far away from my fans in India,” she said.
