There is another interesting news in this wake and that is the critically acclaimed Madhur Bandarkar's Hindi film Fashion is to be remade in Tamil.
Nayanthara was initally approaced to play the role essayed by Priyanka Chopra but she is said to have refused and the offer seems to have fallen onto Trisha's lap. The supporting role that was played by Kangana Ranaut is to be reprised by Priya Mani. It is noteworthy that both Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut won the National Award for their respective roles in Fashion. We will keep you posted with the further developments.
Trisha upset with the media!
South India actress Trisha Krishnan, who teamed up with Askhay Kumar in 'Khatta Meetha', is upset with the media for trashing the comedy.
'I am a bit net buff and read everything. The reviews were bit disheartening. The reviews have trashed the movie. I don't know box-office wise, it's too early to speak, I guess,' Trisha told IANS in an interview. But she doesn't regret doing the movie.
'I don't regret because it's a baby step in Bollywood and I would not have got a better package. It had a big director, big hero and I am happy with it,' said Trisha.
In 'Khatta Meetha', Trisha plays a municipal commissioner with Akshay essaying the role of a struggling construction contractor.
'People said that probably I didn't fit the role of the commissioner. The commissioner should be a slightly older person. Actually, it was a very backhanded compliment in a way. I did feel that a commissioner should look a bit mature,' said the actress.
'Friends were honest to say that they didn't like me in the commissioner's role. They like me as a college girl. It was a risk because I have never done something like this. Even in South, I have done different kind of roles, but never this kind of a role,' she said.
Trisha’s presence for Akshay or Kamal?
Trisha has completed her first film in Bollywood under the baton of Priyadarshan. The film ‘Katta Meetha’ is all set for release next week and the director is upset with his heroine now.
Promotions are the make or break element in the success of Bollywood films recently and toeing it Priyadarshan has made elaborate plans for the promotional activities of the film releasing on July 23.
But all his plans may lose the steam as the heroine of the film; Trisha will not be available for the promotions. Trisha is in Europe shooting for the K S Ravikumar-Kamal Haasan film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’. It’s unlikely she will leave the Kamal film for Akshay Kumar.
It may be remembered that Asin went all out in the promotions of her first Hindi film ‘Ghajini’ along with Aamir Khan. But it seems only Akshay Kumar will have to occupy the space of Trisha on the promotional chart of ‘Khatta Meetha’.
Trisha doing comic role with Akshay
Trisha's Bollywood debut Khatta Meetha is all set to grace theatres worldwide on July 23, 2010. Trisha initially began her career in the South with Priyadarshan’s Lesa Lesa. “Yes I was launched by Priyadarshan seven and half years ago. I am glad that he remembered me when he was doing this film. My debut venture is with Akshay Kumar, what more could I ask for. Moreover, it is Akshay’s home production,” Trisha said to a leading English daily.
"I’ve done comedy in Telugu films but not attempted it in Tamil cinema. In Khatta Meetha too, my character does not have a comic track, it’s more serious. All the comedy is handled by Akshay Kumar. I can’t reveal much about the film at this point but it’s the story of a collector and a road contractor,” she revealed.
Trisha says she is looking forward to the release of the movie. “I am nervous as well as excited but am banking on it. In the meantime, I am making most of my time shopping without being conscious of the fact that I am a star in Mumbai,” she added.
Trisha Krishnan Bollywood debut
One of the most sought after stars down south is soon to make her big Bollywood debut alongside Bollywood Box Office king Akshay Kumar in the comic riot Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha. Trisha Krishna who already has 35 odd films to her credit is at the top of her game down south and after patiently waiting for the right Bollywood break settled on Priyadarshan ’s Khatta Meetha –the story of a common man caught in an uncommon situation.
Says Trisha “I made my debut in the south with Priyadarshan and now will be making my Bollywood debut with him as well. We were in talks for quite a while now and he thought Khatta Meetha would be the most apt movie for me to make my Bollywood debut.” Trisha who with her impressive kitty of work is bound to give the other actresses in B-Town a run for their money essays the role of an innocent, timid girl in Khatta Meetha much unlike what she is in real life. Apart from working with one of the best comic directors in the industry Trisha also stars opposite Akshay Kumar in her debut .Says a gushing Trisha “Akshay Kumar is my producer and my hero.”
The industry is already abuzz with news of this gorgeous lass who is a powerhouse of talent proof of which are the awards she’s managed to bag down south. Says an acclaimed trade analyst “Trisha is one of those stars who manages to mould herself as per her roles. She is never the kind to get boggled down with a certain image. That will take her a long way in Bollywood”
Trisha-Priyadarshan gets disappointed!
The IPL 3 is getting more and more interesting with some very close finishes. King XI Punjab, who are at the bottom of the points table, delivered a googly yesterday when they defeated the strong Chennai Super Kings by just one run.
The match was a closely fought one, with all the action culminating to the Super Over. Since both teams were tied at 136, each was required to bat for one over each. CSK went first and scored 9 runs. And then Yuvi wielded his bat to reach 10 and thus defeating the Chennai team on home ground.
Amongst the large crowd were director Priyadarshan and actress Trisha. Priyan, a Bollywood director to reckon with, and Trisha, all set to make her debut in Hindi, were seen cheering for their home team. Both the celebs, who are hard core Chennaites, were visibly disappointed at the loss of their home team.
Trisha delights Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar, it turns out, wasn’t wrong in putting his trust in director Priyadarshan for casting an appropriate leading lady opposite him in his new film Khatta Meetha. The superstar may have had his doubts when Priyadarshan roped in the south star Trisha Krishnan, but all the apprehensions were laid to rest on the movie’s sets.
Like a true professional Trisha hadn’t hid the fact from both Priyadarshan and Akki that she isn’t very fluent in Hindi, though she studied the language in her school. But when the movie’s shoot began in a village a 100 kilometres away from Pune, Trisha took everyone by surprise.
“Trisha is turning out to be the surprise package. Before the shoot, she had informed us that she couldn’t converse in Hindi…But she took all of us by surprise when she spoke fluently in Hindi. I could see the smile on Akki’s face as he was delighted with her performance,” Priyadarshan is quoted as saying by a news daily.
Priyan went on to reveal that Trisha has a pivotal role in the film. She plays two characters in different time periods. The director also clarifies that it’s not a double role, but he promises that Trisha will get more footage in ‘Khatta Meetha’ than any actress has got in his previous films.
