Bollywood filmmaker Tahir Hussain who produced a number of hit movies in the 1970s passed away on Tuesday morning. According to family sources, he died of cardiac arrest at son Aamir Khan’s residence in Bandra.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, however, are in the US for the Sundance Film Festival. They are taking the first flight back home. Even Imran Khan, grandson of Tahir’s brother Nasir, is flying back from New Zealand.
Reports say the funeral is likely to take place on Wednesday.
Tahir Hussain is best known for producing blockbusters like ‘Caravan’ (1971), ‘Anamika’ (1973), ‘Zakhmee’ (1975), ‘Dulha Bikta Hai’ (1982) and ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ starring Aamir. He also directed Aamir in ‘Tum Mere Ho’ in 1990.
Tahir Hussain is survived by his wife, two sons (Aamir and Faisal), and two daughters (Farhat and Nikhat).
